FYI, CPython is currently in the process of unvendoring libmpdecimal. See https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/115119 for more info. Starting with Python 3.13, configure will default to the system installed libmpdecimal. The vendored copy is scheduled for removal in Python 3.15.
