Can reproduce it every time :
Open an app folder, open an application in it then open again app grid,
open the same app folder then if you click outside it, it won't close.
you have to click on the escape key to close the folder.
This is append with gnome-shell 46. try with a new user and same problem.
Same problem on wayland or xorg
