I am not sure how this works in other countries, but in Australia -
according to Telstra - the caller id is managed by the terminating
device which is the telephone. If the caller id has been flagged as a
silent number then generally the caller id is not display, but rather
display with an alternative message 'Number Withheld' or 'Private' or
whatever.
Right now every incoming call regardless of whether they have been
flagged as a silent number or not we are able to see those numbers.
Is their provisioning within the SIP or IAX2 trunk protocol to accept
and honour the silent caller id?
Is or will Asterisk be able to support and honour silent caller id's
now or in the future?
