Ummm, not sure if I am missing anything, but I have never experienced this before, where the asterisk release didn't compile.

Downloaded all the newest releases from Digium, I compile everything first before installing to minimise downtime of the phone system.

( cd zaptel ; make clean ; make ) This compiled ok.

( cd libpri ; make clean ; make ) This compiled ok.

( cd asterisk ; make clean ; make ) This didn't compile ok, and outputs the following error.

"...
gcc -c -pipe -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes - Wmissing-declarations -g3 -Iinclude -I../include -D_REENTRANT - D_GNU_SOURCE -O6 -march=i686 -DZAPTEL_OPTIMIZATIONS -fomit- frame-pointer -Wno-missing-prototypes -Wno-missing-declarations - DZAPATA_PRI -DIAX_TRUNKING -DCRYPTO -fPIC -o chan_zap.o chan_zap.c

We are using,

        Dell 2850
        FC4
        Linux 2.6.15-1.1830_FC4smp

Any suggestions, as 1.2.7.1 compiled without issue.
