AFAIK that's not true for RHEL6/CentOS6 as the EL6 kernels are ABI compatible so you don't need to recompile DAHDI when there's a new EL6 kernel. When updating a RHEL5/CentOS5 kernel I always had to recompile DAHDI for the new EL5 kernel.
