"""In one of His tablets, Abdul Baha refers to some of the
spiritual
and social implications of the violation of the laws of
morality and,
concerning the penalty here described, He indicates that the
aim here
is to make clear to all that such an action is shameful in the
eyes of
God and that, in the event that the offence can be established
and the
fine imposed, the principle purpose is the exposure of the
offenders--that they are shamed and disgraced in the eyes of
society.
He affirms that such an exposure in itself is the greatest
punishment."""
Yes, Ron, I remembered this too but, could not find it...
should have broadened my word search beyond "humiliate". I
was fairly sure it was from Abdu'l-Baha so concluded that I
must have read it from another source besides the Aqdas.
One thing I find curious about this passage is the "exposure".
Who exposes? Certainly, in the present society exposure of
immoral behaviour is abundant on the news stands; and a sense
of shame seems to be passé`. Not that I want to return to the
Victorian Era ... but a little humility in today's world would
be refreshing, wouldn't it?
Anyone familiar with the original Tablet of Abdu'l-Baha
referenced in this quote?
lovingly, Sandra
