Tonight I went to a talk by House of Justice member Mr. Javeheri for the youth.  At the end I asked him a question.  I mentioned how the Writings speak of youth and their responsbilities and that the Writings are obviously referring to a certain age group.  The question I wanted to know is according to the Writings, at what age does one cease to be a youth?  His answer didn't satisfy me, but I'm sure it would have had I not suddenly lost my voice and been unable to enquire further.  He said that the age depends on the country, and what age they give.  As I'm sure he would have agreed with had I been unable to say it, the Writings would be getting at a consistent age group.  When the Writings speak of the great responsibility of the youth they are obviously not including 80 year-olds.  But what is the upper limit for youth?  As far as I know, the Writings doesn't provide an answer.  Certainly when youth are mentioned it does not mean to indicate people under 21.  According to the Baha'i list, since I'm 28 I'm an adult, but if the Bab was considered to be a youth then obviously I'm still a youth.  Things perhaps get a bit murkier given that in the Tablet of the Ancient Mariner an elderly Baha'u'llah refers to Himself as a youth.
