Dear Hasan, I know that Baha'is *did* use it as an excuse to lie on occasion. Whether that was right, I'm not prepared to say. The only instance I know of where Abdu'l-Baha Himself stated that a lie was justifiable was if a doctor lied to raise the spirit of their patient. But if a bunch of armed gunmen came to your house demanding to know where you your daughters were, I think you would be justified in telling a lie. When the welfare and lives of human beings are at stake, I think lies are justified in most cases. There are other cases where we sacrifice our very lives for the truth. Still, I don't think it would be accurate to say that a Baha'i cannot always tell the truth. For most of us choices like the above never come up. warmest, Susan The information contained in this e-mail and any attachments thereto ("e-mail") is sent by the Johnson County Community College ("JCCC") and is intended to be confidential and for the use of only the individual or entity named above.
