Actually, now that I think again, you probably want to use the keyword
"word" instead of "always".  "word" will, as the name implies, only
match complete words.  "always" would also match if the string appears
in the middle of a word.

So the rule should likely read

word poitevin =

Have a look at

(in the BRLTTY sourcedirectory)
for a complete list of directives you can use in ctb files.
