Going to Andorra on the 9th of June? Be prepared for some fun and games on the border. According to a newspaper report, a pressure group calling itself "l'Association pour la Taxation des Transactions financières et l'Aide au Citoyen" (Association for taxation of financial transactions and aid to citizens) is planning a demonstration at Pas de la Casa "to denounce an international financial system which relies on lawless zones". The intention is to block the border crossing with "a wall of money and bricks" and stage theatrical productions evoking the "incapacity of judges to stop money laundering". A demonstration is also planned on the same date in Jersey and one in Paris "against sackings for financial convenience". I can't help wondering why nothing is apparently planned for Monaco which is not very co-operative with attempts to control money laundering while Andorra is relatively clean in this respect. -- E.
