The Cafe gets enquiries from time to time from people hoping to find
jobs in Andorra. Perhaps I should, therefore, point out a new law which
came into effect from the end of January.

The law on the use of the official language makes it obligatory to
attend to the public in Catalan if addressed in Catalan. The
implication seems quite clear. If you hope to get a job as a barman,
waiter or whatever then unless you speak Catalan you are out of luck. It
remains to be seen how rigorously this law will be applied but it is
certainly going make it more difficult for those who want to spend some
time in Andorra and support themselves by obtaining casual employment.

There is a 2 year adaptation period so anyone who already has a job
should be safe for the time being.
