Introduction of Steerable 110-m Aperture Radio Telescope Project
The Steerable 110-m Aperture Radio Telescope, also known as the ‘QiTai radio
Telescope’ (QTT), is planned to be built in Qitai county of Xinjiang. QTT is a
radio telescope with a fully steerable 110-m aperture antenna supported by
single beam receivers and multi-beam/PAF receivers, making it capable of
observing at frequency bands between 150 MHz and 115 GHz. QTT will have the
advantages of high sensitivity, broad observation frequency and wide sky
coverage excellent for important scientific objectives, including detection of
gravitational waves with pulsar timing array (PTA), star formation, exploration
in the formation of organic macromolecules and the origin of life. It will also
be an important platform for deep space exploration and space-time reference
technology innovation.
