One resident, Chris Wells put it in terms even educator Lopez could understand. Writing in The Daily Coloradoan, he said, âAs a veteran and a friend of a man killed defending these children in their little games they like to play with our pledge, Iâm offended. There are things that we donât mess with â among them are the pledge and our anthem.â
I can only presume that Mr Wells believes that we should use the original Pledge of Allegiance, without the phrase "under God", since no one should mess with the Pledge.
