Ann, That’s the same way I feel. I see really big birds (I think maybe a hawk
or eagle) circling sometimes. I stay close to my kids. I’ve also heard
coyotes singing close by, which makes me very nervous and protective. Another
reason my cats all stay indoors. When I get moved to N. Idaho I plan to fix a
place inside for my babies. It will require some extra work, but that is of
little concern to me. An indoor doggie loo has always been one of my dreams.

Oh my I don't let any of my dogs out if that chilly for very long. Even tho I
have a fenced in yard, I go out with them each time. They usually like to do
their business, sniff the air & come in.

When it's super cold I take one out @ a time... (oh not looking forward to
super cold)!

LOL I wish she would stand - I set her down & she shivers and falls over. She
just stays there until I pick her up...I guess the chilly weather doesn't help.

It sounds like you have Desi's twin sister. Desi would not walk on the
leash...but it might have been part of the 'never been outside before' problem.
I put his leash on and he would just stand there. My neighbor was about four
squares in front of us and he wouldn't go. I thought it might be the
perspective of what he sees in front of him...endless open space - no walls, no
furniture, etc. One day when I had him on the leash as well as Dolly, I
started walking with her and my neighbor told me that he was walking behind me
like nothing was ever wrong. He loved me and didn't want me to go anywhere
without him...so the first walks were really him following me so that he would
be by me. Now he is the leader of the walks and gives out a yap one way, then
about 1/2 house later he does a yap the other direction. I have since stopped
that by doing a tug to his leash and he knows when he feels that tug he should
keep his little 'yapper' closed.

Thanks Sue - I am attempting the leash - she sits down and refuses to move -
hoping for some better weather to just take her out.
THANKS...we're gonna try everything :)

Hi Lynda,
I have found with one of our boys that if I just let him out or carry him out
and set him down, he just stands there shivering and looking pathetic. However,
if I put a leash on him and walk him around the yard or down the street he
knows I mean business and will go potty. Our other Chi will just run out, go
potty fast and run back in. It is should be helpful for her to go out with your
other dogs to pee where they pee.
