I wonder if J-M was bitten by the bug in rpm and did not want apache2-mod_ssl to replace mod_ssl for apache1, that's why these don't provide? But I just tried: # urpmi apache One of the following packages is needed: 1- apache2-common-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 2- apache-common-1.3.28-3mdk.i586 What is your choice? (1-2) 1 To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed (2 MB): apache-1.3.27-11mdk.i586 apache-conf-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache-modules-1.3.27-11mdk.i586 apache2-common-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 libapr0-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 Is this OK? (Y/n) Shit, I should have fiddled more with this "urpmi" thing... This is a mess... Why is the apache1 stuff chosen? Same here: # urpmi mod_ssl One of the following packages is needed: 1- apache2-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 2- apache-mod_perl-1.3.27_1.28-12mdk.i586 3- apache-1.3.27-11mdk.i586 What is your choice? (1-3) 1 To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed (3 MB): apache-conf-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache2-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache2-common-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache2-modules-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 libapr0-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 mod_ssl-2.8.12-9mdk.i586 Is this OK? (Y/n) Same here: # urpmi mod_php One of the following packages is needed: 1- apache2-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 2- apache-mod_perl-1.3.27_1.28-12mdk.i586 3- apache-1.3.27-11mdk.i586 What is your choice? (1-3) 1 To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed (2 MB): apache-conf-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache2-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache2-common-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 apache2-modules-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 libapr0-2.0.47-5mdk.i586 mod_php-4.3.2-3mdk.i586 Is this OK? (Y/n) n What would fix this? apache2-2.0.47 should provide apache = 2.0.47 apache2-mod_ssl should provide mod_ssl = 2.0.47 apache2-mod_php should provide (what?) ? This would probably upgrade apache1 to apache2, but would that matter now?
