I'm completely lost. Why would you update a chromebook to chromeos flex when you can build chromeos and install that.
Did you know that you can build chromeos from source, rekey the chromebook, and then it will boot in normal mode with your build? You can even run the chromeos OTA service from a machine you own, which is kinda fun. This is a talk I gave at ELC in 2014 (15? But to the original question: chromeos flex IIUC is set up to boot on non-chromebook environments like UEFI, so I'm a bit lost on why you'd want it on a real chromebook. This probably means I'm about to learn something I did not know.
