BORN TO BE WILD: GORE SON ARRESTED FOR RECKLESSLY DRIVING 100 MPH;
TIPPER FEARS FOR BOY'S LIFE

A dark cloud hovered over Vice President Al Gore's family this week
after Gore's son was arrested for driving 100 in a 55 mph zone, the
DRUDGE REPORT has learned!
"You're going to kill yourself!" Tipper Gore shouted at her son after he
was arrested and released on bond in Currituck County, North Carolina.
According to an eyewitness, Mrs. Gore blasted her son for "embarrassing
the family" and risking his life in a daredevil drive that stunned even
the locals.
"Why are you doing this? Why are you trying to tear apart this family!"
Tipper Gore demanded. "And on your father's convention week?!"
Sources say Tipper feared the worst when she heard her son was driving
more that 40 mph over the posted limit.
In 1989, Albert III recovered fully from a near fatal car accident that
occurred when he and his father were leaving a Baltimore Orioles
season-opening baseball game. Albert was just 6 years old when he let go
of his father's hand outside the stadium and dashed into a
traffic-filled street.
He was hit by a car and thrown 30 feet, suffering extensive internal
injuries. After three weeks in Johns Hopkins Children's Center in
Baltimore, Albert was brought home in a full body cast. He eventually
recovered after numerous surgeries (doctors had to remove 60 percent of
his spleen).
Last weekend, Gore was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile when he was pulled over
by the Highway Patrol on Route 168. He has been charged with "Careless
and reckless" driving and speeding. A court date has been set for
mid-September. Albert Arnold Gore, 17, is expected to appear in
Currituck County District Court to plea both charges.
Police sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT there were no signs of drug or
alcohol use at time of Gore's arrest last Saturday [August 12].
"He said he was in a hurry, he was driving to Washington to catch a
plane," said a source.
A-list reporters in Washington knew of Gore's arrest, but all decided to
adhere to the family's request for privacy. The arrest was kept out of
news cycles through the convention.
The vice president maintained his composure throughout the week. But
behind the scenes, he was reportedly furious at his son's arrest and was
visibly distracted while working on his acceptance speech.
"The vice president hasn't had enough hours in the day to spend quality
time with his son, especially now with the campaign in full swing," said
a well-placed insider this weekend.
Gore has been concerned about his son's behavior and reckless
tendencies.
"He's your typical wild teenager," revealed the insider. "He's always
raising hell at his school."
The vice president took time from his busy schedule last summer to try a
father-son "Outward Bound" experience.
Gore and his son climbed the 14,411-foot Mt. Rainier. The trip was so
secret many of his senior aides were unaware of it.
"The vice president has worked hard to influence Albert's personal and
social development," said a source. "They've been running and lifting
weights together."
The Gores have worked hard to shield young Albert from the spotlight.
All photos of Gore's son have been removed from Gore's official campaign
site.
