Technically yes, but there is this human side. JFTR, I know about this dates and announcements, cause I read devel-announce and devel lists, but not every normal user does that. I just read the same messages by astonished users on user lists every time an oldoldstable release moves to archive.debian.org. Some people are lazy. Though I don't know and doubt if such users read debian-backports-announce, it just can't hurt to have such a notice on this list as well. bye Jens
