I believe I'm experiencing the same/similar issues on my Thinkpad X220. Rumours suspect the Intel graphics drivers. The next time it happens, can you try the following? * Hold down Fn+Alt+PrtSc * Release Fn, keep holding the others * Press 'R' * Release them all, and press Ctrl+Alt+F1. Does anything happen?
