Probably they patched it. I pointed our Qt mainatainers to the patches,
they said they wanted to look at it and I assumed that also meant the
possibility of applying them.

Obviously that didn't happen.

Ask the Qt people, not me (you posted to a bug filed against LO).
It's Qt patches needed, not LO patches.
