That doesn't make any sense to me since apt does not look at /u/s/k: pabs@chianamo ~ $ apt-config dump | grep trust Dir::Etc::trusted "trusted.gpg"; Dir::Etc::trustedparts "trusted.gpg.d"; pabs@chianamo ~ $ apt-config dump | grep key pabs@chianamo ~ $ I suggest you use apt's Dir::Etc::trusted and Dir::Etc::trustedparts options instead of hard-coding some random paths that may or may not be correct for the particular APT_CONFIG environment variable and configuration files that are currently being used.
