current ycmd in Debian is git snapshot made in December 2016. Since then, upstream had around 400 commits introducing new features and bug fixes. One such bug that I have personally experienced is ycmd crashing tsserver, needed for TypeScript completion. Updating ycmd/completers/typescript/ directory with content of mirror directory from current git fixed this issue.
