Thanks for bringing this up: you are right.

The fact is that when this package was originally created by Avery
Pennarun, more than 23 years ago, he was both upstream+Debian maintainer so
it was a Debian native package. The repository in github.com (
https://github.com/apenwarr/netselect) was at the time exactly the same
contents as the Debian package. Since I took over the package in 20210, the
package has been modified and not all the changes/bug fixes have been
applied to the upstream GIT repository (I believe the latest one was my
ICMP patch, bug #601227, when I first took over).

There have not been huge changes in 11 years (mostly bug fixes), but in any
case these are not in upstream GIT. Consequently, when time allows, I will
move this into a non-native package and use 3.0 quilt format as proposed.
