Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 1.24.0-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

AFAIU network-manager-gnome is just the GUI applet for controlling NM, and it
seems to work just fine without network-manager itself (well it simply cannot
do anything, but does so gracefully).

Would it be possible to only Recommend network-manager instead of Depending on
it?

That would allow to install minimum desktop enviornments on systems where e.g.
there is normally no networking and where pulling in all dependencies of NM
itself
makes not much sense.

A desktop environment that still wants to make sure that NM is installed could
depend on it in one of it's higher levelpackages (e.g. like from gnome or
cinnamon-desktop-environment)

Cheers,
Chris.
