I agree; I expect many of these bugs will need fixing upstream; but it's useful for Debian both to track our collective progress in getting to the point where we can ditch pcre3, and I think useful to raise awareness with upstreams about the need to move to pcre2.

Christian Persch has apparently done a proof-of-concept port to PCRE2, but
has not shared the result in any obvious way, so the next step would be for
someone to either persuade Christian to share the resulting branch, or
reimplement it.

It would be great if Christian could publish his branch for review (and hopefully incorporation into Glib) :) Do you think he'd likely respond positively to you asking him to do so?
