I think "this particular problem" is fairly imprecise when the original
report mentions two problems. The first of these was breaking pkg-config
and this part indeed looks fixed to me.

The other problem about changed toolchain names persists and my
understanding is that it is what makes the build fail.
Yes, I sent that email before I had looked into the details and was
overly optimistic about the upstream fix.
