Apt removes gnome-shell, gnome-session, gdm and others (gnome) and breaks

I tried upgrading a GNOME virtual machine from an outdated version of
trixie to current trixie, and that did not reproduce this problem.
The only packages that were held back by `apt upgrade` were unrelated to
gobject-introspection (related to the Boost version transition).

What command are you using to upgrade? An ordinary `apt upgrade` should
not be proposing to remove packages.

According to a reply sent privately, the answer is that it was synaptic
and not apt that removed (proposed to remove?) these packages.

What was logged in /var/log/apt/history.log and /var/log/apt/term.log
during this upgrade?

Please could you answer this? It will help to figure out why this
happened. Please reply to the bug address rather than to me personally,
so that other team members are able to help you.

It would also be helpful to see the output of:

    apt --dry-run dist-upgrade

which will help us to see why apt is now holding back these packages.

Seems like after # apt upgrade now synaptic updates gir1.2-freedesktop
gir1.2-glib-2.0 without removing gnome packages.
Only thing that changed to the system was installing fonts-droid-fallback.

Sorry for sending private message. I am kind of new to debian / bugreporting.
