This package has become somewhat important to me, since its failure to build 
is affecting packages that I maintain.  

I have worked on packaging the latest upstream version and it builds for me 
locally.  I'm not really wanting another package to maintain so if you can 
update this in the next short while, just let me know.  Otherwise, I can work 
on putting the new version into the archive.  Happy to co-maintain, or 
whatever you think best.
