Gentle ping about this. I'm totally fine if you think this is too risky,
I would go for bookworm-backports then.

Upstream has released 1.7.4 which supports building against the system
lz4 copy. I don't want to upload this to unstable until it's clear how
to proceed with this bug. So

1.) Drop this request and keep the old version in bookworm, upload
    1.7.3+ to bookworm-backports
2.) Upload 1.7.3 to one of the next bookworm point releases
3.) Upload 1.7.4 to unstable, then target that for one of the next
    bookworm point releases (but the diff will become even larger)

What's your take on this?
