First of all, having a default status of needing systemd is not a big issue. It
is not
hard dependency, so you always have the choice to uninstall any package
recommendation
that needs systemd.

Secondly, I did not see that installing persepolis will introduce systemd
itself. It
seems that only libsystemd library will be introduced due to dynamic library
dependency. Having libsystemd library installed is harmless because the library
will
not do anything useful if systemd is not running. Please correct me if my
observation
is wrong.

Finally, I have no idea on how to properly avoid systemd as you requested since
all
packages listed in the Recommends field are legit, and removing or demoting any
of them
are not reasonable. Do you have a good patch that can be used? I would be happy
to take
patches if it could properly avoid introducing systemd by default without
losing any of
persepolis' upstream-provided functionality.

Thanks,
Boyuan Yang
