I think the original matter is that simple to solve that I would need much more time to "learn" svn-buildpackage as someone else needs to fix the issue. So I would prefer if someone would just fix the control file. If I would have done it, I would have decided for the new upstream version, but I'd like to leave the matter for the uploader.
