I ran into this problem, too, and discovered that it was reported upstream as Buzilla Bug #1275 "Config parsing (parse_time) in Host: context acts globally": https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1275 That bug is marked "FIXED", and the release notes for the upstream OpenSSH 4.6 http://www.openssh.com/txt/release-4.6 includes this comment: - Parsing of time values in Match blocks was incorrectly applied to the global configuration (bugzilla #1275) , so presumably this bug is resolved as of that version. (However, I am not running Lenny yet so I am not able to confirm this with an actual test.)
