Hi, I've discussed this issue with Konrad Hinsen recently, and it appears that ScientificPython 2.7.x (currently 2.7.8) supports numpy, and is stable (although tagged a developpement release by upstream). I've used that release on a project recently and it works very well (especially the netcdf bindings with numpy).
Updating the package would solve this issue and possibly a number of other pending bugs.
