The right fix would be to upgrade gnome-panel to 2.26 from unstable or to downgrade metacity, it seems metacity 2.26 and gnome-panel 2.24 have some incompatibility. A Breaks: gnome-panel (<< 2.26) has been added to metacity and will be uploaded to the archive. In the meantime you can workaround it the way you like the most :) Best, Emilio
