*** Please type your report below this line *** Hi there, I recently bought an HP CP1215 colour laser printer. I can set it up with hp-setup just fine if it's connected directly to my computer. However, I need it to be a network printer and I couldn't get hpijs to work (with either Debian or Ubuntu as the client). Enter foo2hp (which uses ghostscript). This worked great but only in monochrome. Specifying "color" in the printer options dialogue (using the web interface) I get no errors or any kind and the job disappears from the queue almost immediately -- just like with monochrome. However, nothing came out of the printer. No reaction from the printer at all. I noticed in my xconsole that gs segfaults during invocation by foo2hp2600-wrapper. The output generated on my xconsole after attempting to print the test page from the cups web interface follows: Jun 24 16:29:02 hades foo2hp2600-wrapper: foo2hp2600-wrapper -z1 -b1 -c -p9 -m1 -s7 -d1 -Gdefault Jun 24 16:29:02 hades foo2hp2600-wrapper: foo2zjs-icc2ps -o /usr/share/foo2hp/icm/hp1215-argyll-0.icm -t0 > /tmp/icc14345.crd.ps Jun 24 16:29:03 hades kernel: [20693.154482] gs[14362]: segfault at da74e15c ip 00000000f7b6ea3f sp 00000000ff8d7280 error 4 in libgs.so.8.64[f7782000+480000] Jun 24 16:29:03 hades foo2hp2600-wrapper: gs -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -g4960x7016 -r600x600 -sDEVICE=bitcmyk -dCOLORSCREEN -dMaxBitmap=500000000 /tmp/icc14345.usecie.ps /tmp/icc14345.crd.ps /tmp/icc14345.selcrd.ps Jun 24 16:29:03 hades foo2hp2600-wrapper: foo2hp -r600x600 -g4960x7016 -p9 -m1 -n1 -d1 -s7 -c -b1 -u 88x84 -l 88x84 -B -A I've looked around and found a bug report in ghostscript which is marked as "resolved" and contains a patch but wont be released until about August or so as part of version 8.65 or 8.70: http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=690287 There is another discussion here: http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/forum/read.php?57,1730,1730 Which states that many other distros (including Ubuntu) have incorporated the patch into their official packages. I can confirm that Ubuntu Jaunty prints fine using version 8.64.dfsg.1-0ubuntu8 on a separate laptop. I've tried installing the ubuntu ghostscript and libgs packages on my Debian system but I get the same problem so it's not as simple as that.
