Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.33-1~experimental.2 Severity: important I normally use uswsusp. I recently wanted to try the kernel's built-in hibernation support to see if it had improved. I removed uswsusp, and tried hibernating and resuming.
As a minor issue, I noticed that the built-in hibernation didn't show any status or progress on the screen while writing to disk. When I resumed, the kernel loaded the hibernation image, then the disk light stopped flashing. The screen remained entirely black, but if I moved the mouse around, I noticed fast flickering of the cursor. I hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch to a text console, which brought me to a login prompt. I typed my username and hit enter, and then got a pile of messages like this: Inconsistency detected by ld.so: ../sysdeps/x86_64/dl-machine.h: 460: elf_machine_rela_relative: Assertion `((reloc->r_info) & 0xffffffff) == 8' failed! After ten of these messages, I got: INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes. So, it looks like after resuming, the getty died with an assertion in ld.so, and did so again repeatedly as it respawned, until init stopped respawning it. Judging by the flickering cursor in X, I'd guess that perhaps some other process died repeatedly as well. - Josh Triplett -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.33-2-amd64 (Debian 2.6.33-1~experimental.2) (m...@debian.org) (gcc version 4.3.4 (Debian 4.3.4-8) ) #1 SMP Sun Feb 28 18:30:42 UTC 2010 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.33-2-amd64 root=UUID=a8fb9a37-fac7-4a3e-8081-fc7b347bd0b2 ro quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log (with some MAC addresses censored): [ 2.997346] ACPI: AC Adapter [AC] (on-line) [ 3.002606] Non-volatile memory driver v1.3 [ 3.007871] Monitor-Mwait will be used to enter C-3 state [ 3.007883] Marking TSC unstable due to TSC halts in idle [ 3.008768] ACPI: SSDT 00000000bd6d5ca0 001CF (v01 PmRef ApIst 00003000 INTL 20050624) [ 3.009342] ACPI: SSDT 00000000bd6d5f20 0008D (v01 PmRef ApCst 00003000 INTL 20050624) [ 3.012475] cfg80211: Using static regulatory domain info [ 3.012477] cfg80211: Regulatory domain: 00 [ 3.012479] (start_freq - end_freq @ bandwidth), (max_antenna_gain, max_eirp) [ 3.012481] (2402000 KHz - 2472000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (600 mBi, 2000 mBm) [ 3.012483] (2457000 KHz - 2482000 KHz @ 20000 KHz), (600 mBi, 2000 mBm) [ 3.012486] (2474000 KHz - 2494000 KHz @ 20000 KHz), (600 mBi, 2000 mBm) [ 3.012488] (5170000 KHz - 5250000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (600 mBi, 2000 mBm) [ 3.012490] (5735000 KHz - 5835000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (600 mBi, 2000 mBm) [ 3.015633] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain [ 3.015670] Switching to clocksource hpet [ 3.019109] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.24 [ 3.019111] thinkpad_acpi: http://ibm-acpi.sf.net/ [ 3.019113] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad BIOS 6DET28WW (1.05 ), EC 7XHT21WW-1.03 [ 3.019115] thinkpad_acpi: Lenovo ThinkPad X200, model 7454CTO [ 3.020001] thinkpad_acpi: radio switch found; radios are enabled [ 3.020130] thinkpad_acpi: This ThinkPad has standard ACPI backlight brightness control, supported by the ACPI video driver [ 3.020132] thinkpad_acpi: Disabling thinkpad-acpi brightness events by default...
