I just encountered this issue with Debian squeeze.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=427561 says the solution
is to install the uw-imap-utils package (which is named uw-mailutils on
Debian). But before installing that I realized there was a chain of dependencies to mlock, so I tried installing that, and the issue appears to be solved without the need for installing uw-mailutils and the remainder of its dependencies.

I would be interested in the alpine packager's comments on this solution.
If they like it, then the packaging of alpine should be changed to
either depend on mlock or suggest or recommend it.
