Hi, while testing the lid.sh script I noticed that it didn't blank the screen. It boils down to this: if from a root shell I set $DISPLAY and run # xset dpms force off or # xrandr --output LVDS --off it works; if I run # su $user -c "xset dpms force off" or # su $user -s /bin/sh -c "xset dpms force off" with $user set to the user that owns the X session, it does not, saying: No protocol specified xset: unable to open display ":0" (The same goes for xrandr) It seems that root can use xset directly, but no via su. This could be related to the fact that I migrated to gdm3, as I seem to remember that the su method it used to work (or even be necessary) once upon a time.
