Don't think that it's a real problem for users to adapt to the switched behaviour. That's how software development works and you even see chaning or dropped options on coreutils like diff. Hope you keep it updated :-) The only feature that's now really strongly missing is the possibility to deliver mail to maildirs with statuses set, most important "marked as read". Somethink like "to_read" or whatever... Would like to see that in Debian or even better upstream.
