Current behaviour of aptitude/0.6.4-1.2: `C-c' during download => shell `q' during download => aptitude Generally a user expects `C-c' to interupt the entire program and as aptitude already has `q' available to abort a download I don't see good reason to change this behaviour. `C-c' during install => (ignored) `q' during install => (ignored) During an install aptitude passes control to libapt-pkg which passes control to dpkg. Handling SIGINT during this is a bad idea: (From apt-pkg/deb/dpkgpm.cc:1069) /* Mask off sig int/quit. We do this because dpkg also does when it forks scripts. What happens is that when you hit ctrl-c it sends it to all processes in the group. Since dpkg ignores the signal it doesn't die but we do! So we must also ignore it */ Situation unlikely to change so I am marking this `wontfix'.
