  update-alternatives runs in the postinst of aptitude 0.6.0.1-1.  That
package doesn't provide /usr/bin/aptitude (previous versions did), so
I wonder how it was still on the system when the postinst ran?  Does
"dpkg -S /usr/bin/aptitude" show anything?
