The problem only shows if
- the tests run in verbose mode and
- the tests directly write output to a terminal.

In this case the tested git command reads the size of the output and
adjustd itself.  Also in this case the test output is colored.

So plain dpkg-buildpackage is affected, but buildds are not as they
redirect anything to a file.

I can't any longer.  Somewhere there showed up a "make -O", which forces
all calls to run with output redirected to a file.  So it works around
the problem right now.
