Firstly, my social circle is not confined to Debian users. Secondly, although I'm not one of them, I know that many people who like to run Debian on their desktop prefer to use testing because they feel it is more up to date. I don't agree at all. If xfce is more like GNOME 2 than GNOME 3 is like GNOME 2 then you might as well argue the contrary.
