There is a python3-debian package in unstable!Erm, yeah. I missed that. jwilk pointed that out to me, but the sftp uploader is still a thing. I might port it without sftp support (IMHO a regression) anyway.
Note that finally Python Paramiko has a new upstream[1]. Code gets developed on Github[2]. You might want to file an issue about Python3 compatibility there.
