I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400 with the ATI X1400 video card and a 1680x1050 15.4" monitor. I am considering purchasing an LCD monitor for use at home, as the 15.4" screen is too tiny.
How can I know what maximum resolution the VGA output is capable of? For that matter, how do I enable it? I have been unsuccessful in getting VGA video out of this machine in Debian-based (Debian and Ubuntu) distros. Fedora enabled at least 1024x768 output, but I did not try anything higher. I do not remember which driver I was using with Fedora. With Debian I tried only the open source driver that comes on the install disk, and in Ubuntu I tried both the open source and proprietary drivers to no avail. Thanks in advance. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-נ-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת ä-ö-ü-ß-Ä-Ö-Ü
