I maintain openafs, which for some time has been reporting an error-level
diagnostic from lintian for missing-build-dependency-for-dh_-command ("dh_dkms
(does not satisfy dkms:any | dh-sequence-dkms:any) [debian/rules]").
Having done a little bit of looking, I currently think this is a false
positive, since the dh_dkms invocation is contained within the
override_dh_install-indep target, and dh-dkms is present in
Build-Depends-Indep. (But maybe the reasoning cited in #901507 about 'clean'
usage applies? I do not think it does, but could be missing something.)
I see the list of build_prerequisites_norestriction being built in
Debhelper.pm by a call to relation_norestriction(), and the documntation for
relation_norestriction() says that it ignores architecture restrictions and
build profile restrictions. Given that Debhelper.pm treats both -arch and
-indep as possible "focus" values (i.e., equivalent levels of scope), it seems
to me that when compiling its list of build_prerequisites_norestriction, we
should ignore not only architecture restrictions but the -All vs -Indep
distinction.
I guess this would be a one-line patch (concatenate
relation_norestriction('Build-Depends-All') and
relation_norestriction('Build-Depends-Indep') but figure a bug report is a
better place to talk about what the correct behavior is than a pull request.
