I've checked the  patch and it works great  for me, including the jack
backend of portaudio19. I've injected the sources in the demudi SVN:

If you are all fine I'm going to test the package a  bit more and then
upload it.  Matt is it fine for  you if I add  myself to Uploaders? Or
even set the  maintainer to the Debian Multimedia  Team, and move you
and me to Uploaders..
