Hi Chris. I use autoproject occasionally, whenever I start up a new project that requires GNU make (say, once or twice a year). It's handy for creating all those weird files that go with GNU make.
It's ok with me if you want to remove it from Debian. I'll just grab the source and maintain it myself.
