Instalação do GNOME e Como configurar som no gnome.

Olá lista,
 
Quero instalar o GNOME pretendo usá-lo para ver se consigo deixar o KDE. 
Mas preciso aprender
a instala-lo, que pacotes devo instalar. E como faço para configurar o 
SOM, no gnome?
