Hmmm. I've recently set up a small Debian system for use as a firewall. The only thing hiccuping is when using irc from another Debian system *behind* the firewall, via the ip_masq_irc module. The irc servers all want identd to be running, and it is running on the firewall, but apparently not answering correctly.
